Interagency Escorts and Training

Unless you are patrolling on an island, chances are your squad has been asked to participate in or head up an inter agency escort for a LODD or dignitary escort.  And the larger the escort or security event it is, the more apparent the differences between agencies becomes!  You may see a squad from agency X and think - holy crap did they even put their guys through a motor school? Or the reverse - dang these guys are sharp - they must sleep with those orange cones!!

Regardless of where on the spectrum your squad falls, its up to each individual member to push for and help facilitate inter agency training.  Granted, locations dictate who can train with who, and scheduling is almost always a nightmare.  But the efforts are worth it and can reap great rewards!  Some ideas may include setting up a cone course and leaving it out for a week or better, allowing motors to hit the course when their schedule permits.  Even if out of that week long setup multiple agencies can only come together for one morning session, the efforts are well worth it!  Not only are you building on foundational skills together but more importantly you are building on relationships with your neighboring agencies that will allow for networking ideas, future training events, and advancements in technology and tactics for the motor officer that benefit not only each individual rider, but the entire community of motor officers!

So don't begrudge your neighboring agencies valuable training time and resources!  Invite them down to your range!  And if you get the invite from your neighbors to come play, by all means take it!
